2009 AHHA National Show
http://www.horsedeals.com.au/gallery.php?restrict=&showID=8843
The 2009 AHHA National Show ran from 15 October - 18 October at the Australian Equine and Livestock Exhibition Centre in Tamworth. There was a good turn out in hunter classes, with close to 80 competitors vying for the Supreme Hunter Titles, (112 riders were at the show in all) some of which had driven as much as 12 hours from all over Qld and NSW to attend
Judges Mrs. Helen Wauch and Ms. Belinder Wauch worked together to judge the working hunter, led hunter and show hunter classes. These ladies, who are both extremely experienced, specialised hunter judges commented that the quality of the hunters at the show were truly Royal level and the best they had ever seen as a group in Australia. Helen and Belinder were joined to judge the Supremes by the Judges from the Pony Breed Ring, Kate Fitzsimmons and the Open Hack/ Rider Ring, Annette Vickery which took place under spotlight as part of the night entertainment following the World Cup ShowJumping. The crowd cheered with excitement for each competitor (especially for the hunters as they galloped) and the atmosphere was electric!
Supreme Show Hunter Horse was awarded to Bamborough Etchings (also Champion Large Show Hunter Pony and Supreme Ridden Arabian Derivative), ridden by Tyler Harris from Qld and Supreme Led Show Hunter Horse was awarded to the stunning Warmblood gelding, Emmaville Contiki, led by successful show jump competitor, Sarah Dreverman from NSW. Supreme Rider was awarded to Eleisha Went from NSW riding Lloyds of Rathowen. Supreme Side Saddle Exhibit was awarded to Fiona Laurie and Supa Smart from Qld who proved to be an unbeatable combination on the Saturday by winning both Champion Side Saddle Rider and Champion Side Saddle Horse from some very strong classes. Supreme Open Hack was awarded to Casabella Magic Moment ridden by Zoe Hunt from Qld who was truly blown away by her win and in particular, her pink garland. There were broad grins and some tears shed by competitors and their proud families as they did their lap of honour in front of a crowd of almost 2,000 people. The show was concluded on Sunday with Supreme Working Hunter Horse awarded to an ecstatic Amanda Chenery and her stunning Kingswood Rover, who was also Champion Led Hunter Galloway.
The AHHA would like to thank each and every competitor for attending this show in its first year and showing the AHHA such tremendous support. This event will be held next year, again at AELEC, and we look forward to having your support and involvement as the show develops as it can only get better from here!!
And last but not least, this event could realistically not have been run had it not been for the support of our sponsors, who together amassed an amazing $10,000.00 in sponsorship. Of particular note were Reiyn Riding Apparel, Cheval Rugs, Stockman's Homestead Motel, Everything Equine Saddlery, Horseland Tamworth, Yatama Stud, Hiscocks Saddleworld and of course, Tracey Bavinton who provided the amazing photography of the event available at www.horsephotography.com.au
